Junior Athletics section is for 8 to 18’s with 1 qualified Coach offering 2 sessions per Week. Runners can come either day or both days depending on your schedule. The Club also does some Junior Park runs on Sundays ranging from 2k-3k.
Some of the runners take part in the Wiltshire Junior race series (races are 1.5k-3k). There are also Spring and Summer track meets in Yeovil. There are Cross Country meets in the Fall and Winter for those who are interested.

Junior Membership renews each school term 3 times a year - April, September and Janurary. . The preferred method of payment is by bank transfer. The details are: Junior membership is £30 and £20 for any additional child in the same family, payable in advance.

Frome Junior Isy Hopkinson-Scott competed at the CAU Cross Country championships on March 8th in Nottingham. Teams from 40 counties from all over the UK competed in the event.
Isy finished 111 out of 308 runners with a time of 13.24 over 3k. She was the forth finisher for the combined Avon & Somerset team which finished 12th out of the 40 teams and was the top team from the southwest counties. It was a very competitive race with 2 runners crossing the finish line every second.

Great results Frome Running Club Juniors in Wiltshire Athletic Association Junior Race series. In May the Juniors took the top team spot ahead of Chippenham and Somer the Semington Slog 2k race. The Club was led by Isy who was the top female finisher with a time of 10:01. Isy was followed by Tallis who was first in her age group(U15) with a time of 10:45.. Tom(10:45), Tallis, Willow(12:31) and Rosie(12:46) all improved their times from last year. Roman (11:25) and Lilly (13:35) were first timers to the event and also contributed to Frome team success at the race.
The Juniors continued their winning ways in July at the Hazelbury Harrah 2K beating out Chippenham and Bath to move into a tie with Chippenham for the overall team lead in the series. All the Frome runners improved their times from last year and were again let by Isy (4th female and 3rd in age group). Tallis was the 11th female and 4th in age group and leads the overall point table. Kit, Roman and Noah finished just seconds apart in their first time at the race. Rosie completed the team scoring (first 3 boys and girls score) and was the 16th female and 4th in age group. Rosie leads her age group (u11) in total points. Not to be out done Willow was first in her age group U9 and Lilly rounded things out.
The Juniors also met at the Yeovil Open Track meet on Thursday May 30th. Everyone taking part was able to achieve a PB and in some cases a Club best age group result. Ottilie was the first U11 Female in the 75m dash (11.68s), Howler Throw (24.23m) and 600m (2:03.57). All results were PBs and Club records. Tom had a speedy 75m dash with a time of 11.82 in the boys U11 race just missing second place by a tenth of a second. This was also a PB and Club record. Gideon ran a 100m PB of 14.07 and followed that up with 4x100m split of 14.2 while running on mixed team. Tallis run a U15 female Club best of 6:11.2 in 1500m.
Frome Juniors charge into spring at the Clock Change Challenge March 31st (part of the Wiltshire Junior series). Leading the way was Alfie with a 2nd place finish overall in the boys division and course PB of 5:46. Frome also had 3 girls in the top 10 with Tallis taking the 5th overall and 3rd in the U15 age category with a course PB of 6:41 and this was after a 2 day 30 mile walk to Glastonbury. Ottilie was 7th overall and 1st in the U11 age group with a time of 6:58. Rosie rounded out the top 10 and was 3rd in the U11 age group with a 7:40 PB. Lilly improved her PB by more than 2 minutes with a time of 8:15. Willow and Stanley also took part in the race providing a good turn out on Easter Sunday for the Club.
Additionally, on Monday Alfie raced to a Frome U15 club best of 5:27 in the 1500m at the Yeovil Spring open April 1st..
It's been great to see the work over the winter has paid off for the Juniors.
Frome Running Club Juniors race into the New Year
Frome Running Club Juniors wrapped 2023 by competing in the TRI-county cross country championships and the Southwest cross country championships, as well as, completing the Wiltshire Athletic Association Junior Race series with a team win at the 1.5K Clock Change Challenge in Calne.
Overall, the Frome Juniors ended up in 2nd place to the Chippenham Harriers Juniors for the 6 race Series. Frome had a strong finish in the series tying Chippenham over the last 5 races winning the last 3.
In the TRI-County championships on a very muddy course with a bit of rain thrown in - Eight Juniors competed with Isy Hopkinson-Scott able to take second place (U13G) for Somerset Country and Tallis Mason (4th U15G), Lilly Antell (4th U13G) and Tom Allum (5th U11B) just missing podium spots. Isy and Tallis efforts enabled them to be selected to represent Somerset County at the Southwest Championships with 5 other Frome Juniors competing as well. All the runners gained valuable experience for future races.
Fifteen different Frome Junior runners took part in the WAA series which involved races from 1.5K to 2K.
The overall individual Champion for the series was Alfie Johnston who was also the top runner in the U13 boys age group. Taking first in the U11 girls was Harriet Lamb and Tallis Mason was first in the U15 girls age group.
Other runners with podium spots were Tom Allum with third in the U11 boys, Willow Antell, Rosie Antell and Isy Hopkinson-Scott taking 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the U11 girls category.
